Tazim (Taz)
Taz Ahamed is Dr. Hunter's 'right hand.' She has been part of Ackroyd Dental Center since its planning stages. Taz became Dr. Hunter's assistant when they both worked at Richmond Center Dental Clinic and came with her to open the Ackroyd Dental Center in July 1987.
Taz took her training to become a Certified Dental Assistant from Vancouver Community College and graduated in 1985. She took additional training and received her orthodontic module at UBC in 1988. She continues to keep current with new technology and techniques through study clubs with Dr. Hunter and continuing education courses.
Taz married her husband Sam in 1989 and they have one son. She enjoys running, doing volunteer work at her son’s school and Sunday school. Her next plan is to volunteer along with her son at a senior's home.
Janet
Janet joined Joni at reception in 2008, and quickly fit into our team at Ackroyd Dental.
Janet started her career with MacMillan Bloedel as an accounting clerk. After marriage she elected to stay at home and raise her three children. In 2007 Janet decided to return to the workforce and took a dental reception program.
Janet is a Richmond native with roots in Steveston. She enjoys keeping active by going to the gym and gardening.
Joni
Joni joined Dr. Hunter's practice in 1993, upon returning to dentistry from the birth of her first child. She has been the “one to go to” ever since. If you have questions regarding dental insurance, treatment or appointments, she is our expert.
Joni started in dentistry as an assistant and then moved into reception where her skills have been developed through experience and many management courses. Occasionally you may see Joni assisting when she is called in as our back–up assistant.
Joni enjoys keeping active. As well as being an avid runner she leads a Sun Run Clinic and has been active coaching her son's track and field team at school and her daughter's basketball team. Joni has completed many half marathons and even a sprint triathlon.
Reena
Reena joined our team in 2009 and has been a most welcome addition. Her professional commitment to her career in dental hygiene is a benefit to all her patients.
Reena is a Burnaby native who graduated from Burnaby Central High. Her interest in a dental career led her to take the certified dental assisting program through MTI College. She continued her education by enrolling in Dental Hygiene at Oxford College in Ontario.
Reenaís bright personality her helpful attitude and her gentle nature make her a pleasure to know and to work with. She enjoys yoga, music and is a bit of a movie buff. Ask her about her favorite hockey team (The Canucks of course)!
Merja
Hi, my name is Merja. I am a registered Dental Hygienist and I enjoy my career very much. I started with Dr. Hunter in April 2008 and I enjoy working with her and the team. I have been in dentistry for over 20 years! Nine years as a dental assistant and 16 years as a Dental Hygienist.
I enjoy hiking, taking photographs and cooking. My husband and I are both from Ontario. We have been living in BC since 1995.
